My brothers graduation

On September the 24th of 2019 my brother graduated from the University of Auckland. In university my brother studied a Bachelor of Music majoring in Composition. When we got in Auckland it took about an a hour to find a parking space because  the city was busy and there was a lot of traffic. When we finally found a park we went down some stairs because the elevator was taking a long time to open the door and it took about 20 minutes to walk from the parking area to the Aotea centre in the city. When we got to the Aotea center there was so many people that we were getting bumped into all the time but then we realised that my brother wasn’t there yet. So we went outside to wait and when they got there my sister and I went on a lime scooter which is a scooter but you hold a button down to go forward and it was fun. When we were finished with the scooter we went to my nan, nana, grandpa who had tickets to go inside and me, my sister, my mum and my brothers girlfriend went upstairs to watch the other ceremonies on the tvs.  When it was time for my brothers ceremony we got seats that were like beds and made a family bed and watched it until my brother got his degree. When he got his degree we went downstairs to see his degree and him and then we took some photos. Here are two photos

Road trip to Auckland

On the 22nd of September, my family and I  went on a road trip to Auckland because my older brother is graduating from The University of Auckland. In university my brother studied a Bachelor of music majoring in composition. The graduation is going to be happening on the 24th of September 2019 at 7pm. First, we  packed our belongings and filled our truck boot. Then off we went, from Waitangi to Auckland. It took about 3-4 hours and I slept through the whole ride except for when we stopped in Wellsford for some food. While my parents were still eating, my other siblings and I went to play games in the arcade. The games we played were racing and shooting games. After awhile we went back on our trip to Auckland. We arrived in Auckland after an hours drive and were greeted by my brother. As we were on the road trip I felt so excited because I would get to see my brother for the first time for ages and to be in Auckland again. I am proud because my brother is gonna be one of the first people to graduate in my immediate family and not many people in my family have a degree.

Oral hygiene DLOs

On Wednesday we had a dentist come in to teach our class about why it is important to brush our teeth and oral hygiene.  After that we had to make dental posters or DLOS. For our posters we had to put in what they talked to us about like when we should brush our teeth which is every morning and night, how long we should brush our teeth which is 2 minutes and only put a little bit of toothpaste on your toothbrush. I have learnt that DLOS and posters can help other peoples learning and make them understand more about what we have been learning or what has been happening.

Oral Hygiene

On Wednesday a dentist from oral hygiene came to Te ngahere to talk to us about why it is important to brush our teeth and why we should look after them. She also talked to us about bacteria like that some of them could be bad and good, when and how long we should brush our teeth which is 2 minutes each time and every morning and night is when we should brush our teeth.  The different kind of things you could use instead of a toothbrush are a piece of string to floss your teeth and a small toothbrush to brush between your teeth, only spit out the toothpaste and don’t drink water after and more. When it was done she went and painted two peoples teeth from our class with something blue to see if they have been brushing their teeth. When they showed us their teeth you could see that they haven’t been brushing around their gums and the top of their teeth. I have learnt to brush my teeth every morning and night and  to only brush my teeth for 2 minutes.

Writing

In Te ngahere for writing we are learning to use story beats to make stories. Story beats are the main parts of the story or events that keep the stories that we write in order and make it  very interesting and marvelous. For example we would use something called a story spine to jumpstart a story and get a rough outlines of events because it is a simple tool and the sentences would always start with Once upon a time, everyday, until one day, because of that and it goes on until the end which starts with the moral of the story is. Story spine is used as a tool to create well-structured stories and it is a series of sentence fragments that prompt the narrative elements of a story. In writing I have learnt that story beats is helping me with my writing because it makes the stories that I write fantastic and extraordinary.

Panui

In Te ngahere for panui we have been using story beats to tell the story that we’ve read. If you don't know what story beats are they are the main parts of the story or plots events that keep the stories that we write very overwhelming and marvelous. I have learnt that story beats helps me with my writing because it helps me to make my stories more interesting and outstanding and I also enjoy writing the stories that we’ve read because reading the story makes it much easier to write every sentence. For example Finding nemo like Once upon a time there was a fish named marlin who loved his son nemo more tan anything.Every day he marlin tried to proctect nemo until one day nemo was taken away from a scuba diver.

Cross country

For the past few weeks we have been doing cross country training. Last friday our school went to the football club in Haruru falls to do cross country. We would do our work and then we would play and have morning tea. When the bell rang we had to get our bag and wait for all the parents to transport children. Once that was done all the people that didn't get called out would go onto the bus. 5 year olds were on the bus and they were noisey .After we got to the place we had to wait until it was our turn running. Then the last people would be the 11, 12 and 13 year olds. We  had to run around the Football field and then go over the fence then up the driveway. We had to go to our teachers and then up the hill to our 2nd teacher and then back down to the hill then back to the field.I learnt that it doesn't matter if you win or not and to always try your best and also never give up even if you hate it or not.
