In Te Ngahere we had a reading test that was about following directions. The teacher gave us a paper that had instructions on it. You had to read and do what the instruction says. I think the teacher was teaching us how to read things carefully and how to follow directions properly. The test was only 4 minutes long and there were twenty-three instructions but technically it was only three instructions. The first instruction was that you had to read everything carefully before doing anything but we all didn’t actually read everything carefully. The 23rd instruction said that we had to do only sentences one and two the flip the paper over and draw quietly while waiting for the other students did which none of us did. When I realised that I didn’t follow the instructions properly I felt pretty dumb. What I think I could do better the next time is to actually read everything properly so that I won’t make the same mistakes in the future. How well can you read things carefully?

Celebrating Shivam’s Birthday
In Te Ngahere we went to Green’s Indian Cuisine for lunch because we were celebrating Shivam’s birthday. We were very lucky that we got to eat for free because Shivam’s parents were the owners at Green’s. We walked from our school to Green’s and when we got there we sat at the tables and waited for our food. After a while we finally got served some drinks, butter chicken, naan bread and rice. I dipped the naan bread in the butter chicken and ate it. I thought it tasted delicious. I then kept eating more and more till I was full. At the end Shivam’s parents came out with a shopping trolly with boxes of chocolate easter eggs and they gave each of us one easter egg. Angela and Jade then gave Shivam a card that we had all signed. After that we said thank you to his family by doing some waiata. The songs we sang were Utaina mai, Ka pioioi and Rerenga Wairua. Then we went back to school. How do you think butter chicken tasted?
Coastal Seas Life Cycle
In Te Ngahere we have been learning about what sea animals do and how they live. We watched one episode of a show called Our Planet and wrote all the facts we could on a doc. We then made a DLO that we wrote our facts on it but we had to put the facts in different categories for example we would put all the seaweed facts on one slide and put the shark facts on a different slide. What I thought was hard was when I had to write down the facts because i’m deaf so it was hard to hear what the person was saying but I managed to write some decent amount of facts down. What I think I could do better next time is try to pay attention more to what he was saying so that I could get more facts so that my DLO could’ve at least be more interesting.
How To Pronounce Maori Words
In Te Ngahere we have been learning about how to pronounce the Maori alphabet, Maori greetings and place names. We had to screencastify us pronouncing them. We made a DLO that shows us pronouncing them. We screencastify on Education Perfect. Education Perfect is a digital learning program designed for students to learn about Maori and more. When we finished the screencastify we put them on our DLO. What I found difficult was that sometimes I didn’t really know how to pronounce the word and I had to try not to mess it up because I would have to screencastify again. What I think I could do better next time is go somewhere else that's quiet. Have you ever used the website, Education Perfect before?

How To Search The Web Properly By Using Keywords
In Te Ngahere we have been learning about how to search the internet properly so that we will be able to find more accurate results. To search the internet properly, instead of asking questions we have to type the keywords for example, instead of typing “where do spiders live” type “spiders habitat” because It will help you get more accurate results about where they live. We made a copy of a slide, where we had to highlight the keywords that are in questions, etc. What I found easy was when I had to highlight the keywords because the teacher already showed us what to highlight. What I think I could do better next time is use keywords when I search up a question so that I get more accurate result. Do you know how to search the web properly?

Tidying Our Drive
In Te Ngahere we have been learning to tidy our drive. We first watched a video telling us how to clean our drive and how to file stuff but we already knew that. We made a copy of the presentation that the person in the video used to show which doc, slides and google drawing, goes in what folder. We also did the same thing he did then on the next slide we had to take a screenshot of our drive and insert it onto the slide. After that we cleaned our drive by making a personal folder for us to put our personal stuff in and an old stuff folder for us to put our old stuff in. For the untitled ones, we just deleted them and for the ones that are new and we hadn’t filed yet, we just put them in the correct folder. What I thought was easy was when I had to screenshot my drive because I just needed to screenshot it and insert it onto the slide. Is your drive clean?

The Hardest Task I’ve Done So Far
In Te Ngahere we have been doing taskmaster and collaborating in our learning groups. For taskmaster we had to copy the teachers drawing. The drawing had five colors on it. One of us had to to be the drawer and two of us had to be runners. The runners would go outside, one at a time then look at the drawing and specifically tell the drawer what they need to draw.
My group did two attempts but unfortunately I wasn’t here for the first attempt. For the second attempt I was one of the runners but I wasn’t specifically describing the drawing that well. What I thought did not go well was when I was constantly repeating myself, yelling at the drawer as the time was getting closer to zero, making me more anxious and frustrated. What I thought went well was that we were paying attention to small details, for example what line to draw it on and what color it was but there were times where we did not check it properly.
The things I found challenging was when the drawer would ask us something that I did not check so I would have to check again. Our drawing had each thing in the right place but It still wasn’t as accurate as the teachers drawing and we also didn’t have that much time so we didn’t get to draw everything else. I learnt that working and collaborating helps us learn from each other.
